Looking to pass the time

So now I have done everything on my list of things to do besides read the breastfeeding book, go through the 2 rubbermaid containers of baby clothes given to me, and finish Owen's curtains. I am procrastinating with the curtains. And I have baked and cooked and frozen it all 3 times now. So I am looking for more things to do. Any ideas on what can pass the time? I would normally be napping every day, but if I do I can't sleep at night. So no more naps.

Contractions

Contractions started today around 1-1:30pm. By 6:30pm they were every 10 minutes and getting stronger each time. By 7:30 I had called everyone to put them on "yellow alert". And then they were over. And not once since then. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Maybe they will start again tomorrow.

Making a list and checking it twice...

With just over a week before my due date with Baby2, I made a list of stuff I still need to get done before labor begins. I also made a list of what Gabe needs to do. Lets see who gets done first. I have already done a few items on my list. Today I completed #4- Bake and cook a lot and freeze it all. I made 2 lasagnia's and am now starting a zuccini loaf. I also made a list of the ingrediants I need to make banana bread, which I will do later.

Plus. I did dishes, landry, cleaned out the microwave, and cleaned the entire house (vacuumed, swept and mopped all the floors, cleaned bathrooms, tidied, etc.) with the help of my sister-in-law this morning as well (she did most of it).

And tonight I will work on #2- Get all text done in Owen's 2 scrapbook albums. I have about 1/4 of this done, and hope to get that 1/4 all done, so I will be 1/2 done by the end of tonight.

This is nesting, right, so that means I am close to having this baby, right?!?!?????

On the lookout for new names

I am re-posting this old post on names as Gabe told me last night he didn't like any on our current list. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

So please, if you have any good names, that fit the profile, please, please, please let me know!

Names for Baby2

Becasue we can't call him/her Baby 2 forever, we are shortlisting some of our favorite names. Please add some goodies if you can think of any, but here are my requirements:

1. The name must be gender specific
2. When you hear it, you should know how to spell it, and when you see the name, you should know how to say it. And I like original spelling - nothing spelled 'funky' or 'new'. Just give me a good old basic name.
3. The name must be just that - a human name - not a car part, a fruit, or a day of the week. And nothing made up either.
4. I don't want anything too popular (I don't want this little one to go to kindergarted with 6 other people in the class with the same name)
5. It must go with Lanteigne (So Lilly Leila Lanteigne may sound nice, but it is out - she'd have to be a super hero!)
6. And I don't want to use a first name that is already in our immediate family - I can be somewhat original

See, I have a lot of rules, but what else do you expect from me? :)

Ok, so here are our names so far:
Boy Names:Andy

That's it, so if you can think of more, please let us know!

Girl Names:
Penny
Evelyn (we'd call her Evy)
Monica
Brigette
Natalie (my recent favourite)

After that post we made a few changes. The girl names we liked were: Juliet, Penny, and Natalie. And those are the ones Gabe decided he didn;t liek anymore. Mind you, he went through this old list (the green one), and our list of names for Owen if he was a girl (Annette, Paige, Juliet, Evelyn, Helena) and didn; tlike them either. He hasn't come up with any new ones EVER so he is definatley one tough cookie to please!

No sleep for the wicked...?

I had the worst sleep last night in months. I don't know if I went longer than 30 minutes at a time. I tossed and turned, and nothing was comfortable. Owen got up 3 times and I got up twice to pee as well. I am very glad we aren't going to the aquarium today as planned.

Last night I decided to go to bed early and I couldn't. My belly was so hard and tight, and there was so much pressure. I was sooooooooo uncomfortable! And the baby was moving like crazy – and there isn't enough room in there for her to move like that! She hasn't danced around inside me like that for a long time now. Hopefully she is getting ready to come out soon. I cried last night I was so uncomfortable.

Close, but not yet...

A message to my baby at 38 weeks:

Well you may not come out today baby, or even this week, but we are getting closer! Dr LeGresley said you might come this week, but probably in the next 2 weeks for sure. My fundus is still at 34”, so you should be a nice small baby (thank you)! And you were awake and moving today with a hear rate at 150 beats per minute – that is the highest we have ever heard you. Your Papa and brother came to the Doctors appointment with me today, which was neat.

I told the Dr about everything that happened this past week (including a red swollen bump on my hand that turned out to just be a bug bite) and she said that is all normal and means we are getting closer.

And Sarah Hewlett, our Doula, came over tonight. We went over our birth plan, discussed what happens in a normal labor (I didn't have that with Owen), and I feel more prepared to have you now. I also feel like you may be closer to your due date, or my guess date of June 26th. So if you come early that would be nice, but I am not betting on it. Sarah told me about a few physical changes that will happen to me before I go into labor, and I don't have them yet. She figures I am 2-3 weeks away from having you still. And with 13 days until my due date, June 26th is looking pretty good. I did pack my Hospital bag today however.

See how I have dropped?!

I can push the top part of my belly down now becasue the baby has dropped, and now that top bit is all squishy (probably some internal organs that just LOVE getting puished around) :)

14 days until my due date... and counting!

A message to my baby

June 5, 2008

Hi Baby! Yesterday was a fun day for you and me – we got our pictures taken! Auntie Stacey came over and took a bunch of preggo pics of me. And today I blew one up, framed it, and put it in your room.

Also, yesterday (and so far all this morning as well), I have been having contractions (not real though) and pain. I think you are dropping and getting into position. I think your head is rubbing up against my pelvic bone. And it hurts! But at least you are getting ready to come out, so that is good! I am VERY ready for you to come out; we all are. Please come out soon!

- Mama

Only 33 days to go...

My due date is in less than 5 weeks now! Yay! And Ihave a large baby bump to show for it! I have only gained 25lbs this pregnancy (thank God!), but I am starting to get rather uncomfortable. The baby doesn't have much room in there anymore, and s/he stretches out ALL the time! This baby is a dancer!

30 weeks

I had my monthly Dr’s appointment today. The baby is measuring 28", which is small for how far along s/he is (it’s usually 1" for each week of pregnancy, and I am over 30 weeks now). And so far I am only up 2lbs – not bad! Now I just have to keep that number nice and low as I have 2 and a half months left to go.

Week 24: Baby Corn!

Info I found online... "Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes for a pretty lean figure, but her body's filling out proportionally. Your baby's brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds may be working now. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily. Your baby can hear more now, and you may even notice her startle at loud, sudden noises. But she's probably getting used to the regular noises she hears around the house, such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner."

23 weeks... my baby is a mango!

My baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango) so sayeth the internet.

I am feeling movement all teh time now, not just at night, although that is when she wakes up and dances around for hours. We have decided to refer to Baby2 as a girl, even though we do not know the gender. Just for fun. :)

22 week info from online...

"My baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. His/Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until s/he gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his/her head and body is now visible. His/Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. His/Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and his/her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily!"

New pics of Baby2!

I had another ultrasound today and this time the baby looked human - yay!

S/he was moving around like crazy, stretchng out, waving, and kicking, and yet I felt nothing. Ultrasounds are truely amazing becasue it makes the baby look so big, when it is still so very little.

But I love these pics! You can really see what the baby looks like, and I think Baby2 looks just like Owen - but in the profile pic, you can see the baby has my chin! Yay! Finally, a baby that looks just like me!

Think pink everyone!

20 weeks and feeling much better

My baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. S/he's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana.

S/he is swallowing more, which is good practice for her/his digestive system. S/he's also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance that's the result of cell loss, digestive secretion, and swallowed amniotic fluid. This meconium will accumulate in her/his bowels, and I'll see it in the first messy diaper (although a few babies pass it in utero or during delivery - yuck!).

About me: I've made it to the halfway mark — Yay for me! And I've only gained less than 5 pounds. For a long time I was feeling very dizzy, light-headed, nauseous, and had a lot of headaches. I am happy to report that I am now feeling much better and don't have any of those symptoms anymore. Well, I do get to nap almost every day, and I am taking it easy - so much more laid back than my regular speed of life.
