Week 12

My baby's urinary tract is on line, and his/her fingernails are growing. A big portion of the amniotic fluid from this point on will be baby urine. Gross, hey?

S/he is looking more and more like a baby and has advanced to the stage that its brain can transmit messages. Vocal chords are complete, and the baby can sometimes cry (silently). The brain is fully formed, and baby-to-be can feel pain; s/he may even suck his thumb! Eyelids now cover his/her eyes, and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect his/her delicate optical nerve fibers.
